During our family holiday, we like to compete with each other to get the most-viewed picture on Google Maps.
Did you know you can add pictures from your phone to Google maps? From the Google Maps app you click on “contribute” and then “add a photo”. Enter the place your picture depicts. Once it’s uploaded, you can obsessively watch the number of views climb.
We’ve found that certain types of photo are much more successful than others. Photos of dishes served in a restaurant can be pretty good. But the winners overall seem to be pictures of mundane chain stores showing their name and shopfront from the outside.
For example, this holiday’s competition is currently led by Arthur’s photo of the Starbucks outside Nottingham Station.
